TORONTO’S SIGNATURE FOOD?

TORONTO'S SIGNATURE FOOD?

EVERY CITY HAS A DISH

It’s been said that every major city should have a signature food dish. Something they are known for throughout the world. Chicago has deep dish pizza. Montreal is known for it’s smoked meat and bagels. Buffalo – yep you guessed it – Buffalo wings. So what should the official signature dish of Toronto be?

PEAMEAL BACON YOU SAY?

You can’t go to the St. Lawrence Market without getting a peameal bacon sandwich.  Just the smell as you walk through the doors will make you want one!  Most restaurants in the city have some sort of peameal dish on their menu.  Check out the Captain Canuck at the Lakeview or the BLT Canadian peameal bacon style at TLP.  For a classic sandwich hit the Carousel Bakery or Paddington’s Pump.

TORONTO’S OFFICIAL DISH?

Recently on CBC’s Metro Mornings show their panel determined that Toronto doesn’t have an ‘official food dish’.  We think it can be argued that it does.  Peameal Bacon of course!  And we aren’t the only ones.  Check out this article from the Toronto Star arguing in favour of the Peameal Sandwich too!  https://www.thestar.com/opinion/star-columnists/2018/03/28/so-what-should-torontos-signature-food-be.html

If you can’t get Toronto to satisfy your fix, order up a pound or two here!  We are always open.
